How to use this tool
- Open the camera test in the browser you plan to use for your call.
- Press Start camera and allow camera access when the browser asks.
- Check your framing and lighting, then press Stop when you finish.
What the results mean
A working preview confirms that this browser can open your camera. Active resolution is the video stream size, not necessarily the camera’s maximum resolution. Frame rate is the value reported by the camera track, when available.
Common problems
If permission is denied, open the site permissions beside the address bar and allow the camera. Check the physical privacy shutter and your operating system’s camera settings. Close other camera apps, reconnect an external webcam and try again.
Privacy and data use
The preview stays in your browser. The test requests video only and does not record or send your camera stream to MyLaptopTools.
Frequently asked question
Will this prove my camera works in Zoom?
It checks this browser’s access. Zoom, Teams and other apps have their own device and permission settings; confirm the preview in your actual meeting app too.
