EXIF & Metadata Remover

Create a fresh JPG, PNG or WebP copy without copying the original EXIF and GPS tags. Images are processed locally in your browser.

Remove image metadata

How to use this tool

  1. Choose an image your browser can decode, such as JPG, PNG or WebP.
  2. Choose the output format and create the clean copy.
  3. Download the new file and check its details before sharing it. Keep your original separately.

What the results mean

The tool redraws the image and encodes a new file. It does not copy the original EXIF/GPS metadata. JPEG and WebP re-encoding may change image quality and file size; this is not lossless metadata editing. Browser-generated format metadata may still be present.

Common problems

If a phone’s HEIC image will not open, export a JPG or PNG first. For transparency use PNG or WebP. Inspect the downloaded copy, not the original still saved in your photo library.

Privacy and data use

Image decoding and re-encoding happen on your device. The selected image and original metadata are not uploaded by this tool.

Frequently asked question

Does removing GPS hide everything about the location?

No. Street signs, landmarks and other visible clues remain in the pixels. File names and the text you post alongside a photo can also reveal information.
