Start with basic input
Use the Mouse Tester to verify left, middle and right buttons, scroll direction and double-click input. This is useful when a button feels intermittent or the wheel behaves strangely.
Then estimate event rate
The Mouse Polling Rate Test counts browser pointer events while you move the mouse. Common hardware rates include 125, 250, 500 and 1000 Hz.
Why the browser result is an estimate
Operating systems and browsers can coalesce movement events, so the reported rate may be lower than the USB hardware setting. Use it as a quick diagnostic rather than a laboratory measurement.
Test keyboard issues separately
If input problems affect more than the mouse, also run the Keyboard Test and check whether the issue follows a specific USB port or wireless receiver.
